Real English Country Chairs

Restoration Projects

This dilapidated cut down antique Windsor chair was brought to me recently for restoration.

Note the loose broken and missing sticks and arm support.

The seat at this point although badly cracked has already
had four coats of oil to feed the wood.
Note the cut down legs and broken stretcher.
Now looking like a chair again final trial fit before gluing up.
New front legs turned and fitted with profile at foot.
New back legs turned plain as originals and fitted.
New stretcher to original pattern turned and fitted.
New arm stump steamed and bent to shape and fitted along with new side sticks.
Seat has now had ten coats of oil and is beginning to show some true colour.
Arm bow and back bow now married up and fitting
together again with a couple of new back sticks to
replace ones that had broken.
The end product glued up and polished ready to be returned to the customer.
